STORY

Inspired by the Japanese legend of the 1000 paper cranes, Folds of Light is a visual novel that follows office-worker Miyako as she makes her way across the city to answer one question: Who threw the damned origami crane at my head!?

Miyako is a young woman going through a bit of a phase - her job, her life, her dreams - none of it is going anywhere. And she has no idea what to do about that, except get through this day.

And then one day, while she eats her sad, lonely lunch at the sad lonely park near her office building, a paper crane comes and hits her on the back of her head. Far more annoyed at this disturbance than she should be, Miyako throws her lunch away to find the person who cruelly threw things at her.

So off Miyako marches to find the culprit. And in the process, she runs into different people who tell her where to go. But only if she helps them out and fulfills a “wish” for them.

Will Miyako find the light she is looking for? Or will the lonely crane in her hand be crushed before joining 999 others?

I like the pace set by the first half of the game. Can stay with Miyako's experience and what she's going through. The visual style is quite nice.

I think it would be nice to rework the puzzle part so that there's more of a challenge or more of a reward when you get it right. As is, it's a little more like a "quick time event" where you just need to push a button to progress the story.

I like the setting and hope you will continue :)

Thank you so much for the encouragement! And the bit about the puzzle. We're working on seeing how to make things better!

Review Time!

This game is just one singular puzzle... and you don't even need to try to beat it.

You have to click on every piece to rotate it into its proper position. When you put the pieces on their right positions, they become brighter and can't be rotated anymore. The solution is to spam click every single piece until the puzzle is solved, no thought included.

Thanks for your feedback! We're going to see what we can do about our puzzle, but sometimes, it is just about the labour involved in finding an answer :)
